I received this via e-mail from a good friend of mine earlier and thought it was worth posting for everyone to read. It makes sense and could save many in critical situations.
Car Keys With Alarms Can Save Lives!
Put your car keys beside your bed at night. If you hear a noise outside your home or someone trying to get in your house, just press the panic button for your car. The alarm will be set off, and the horn will continue to sound until either you turn it off or the car battery dies.
This tip came from a neighborhood watch coordinator. Next time you come home for the night and you start to put your keys away, think of this: It's a security alarm system that you probably already have and requires no installation. Test it.
It will go off from most everywhere inside your house and will keep honking until your battery runs down or until you reset it with the button on the key fob chain. It works if you park in your driveway or garage
If your car alarm goes off when someone is trying to break in your house, odds are the burglar or rapist won't stick around... after a few seconds all the neighbors will be looking out their windows to see who is out there and sure enough the criminal won't want that.
And remember to carry your keys while walking to your car in a parking lot. The alarm can work the same way there..... This is something that
should really be shared with everyone. Maybe it could save a life or a sexual abuse crime.
P.S. I am sending this to everyone I know because I think it is fantastic. Would also be useful for any emergency, such as a heart attack, where you can't reach a phone.
My Mom has suggested to my Dad that he carry his car keys with him in case he falls outside and she doesn't hear him. He can activate the car alarm and then she'll know there's a problem.

Warning About Outdated Pancake Mix!
This was just sent to me! Wow! Very Important!
I recently made a batch of pancakes for my healthy 14-year-old son, using a mix that was in our pantry. He said that they tasted "funny," but ate them anyway. About 10 minutes later, he began having difficulty breathing and his lips began turning pu rple. I gave him his allergy pill, had him sit on the sofa and told him to relax. He was wheezing while inhaling and exhaling.
My husband, a volunteer Firefighter and EMT, heated up some water, and we had my son lean over the water so the steam could clear his chest and si nuses. Soon, his breathing became more regular and his lips returned to a more normal color.
We checked the date on the box of pancake mix and, to my dismay, found it was very outdated. As a reference librarian at an academic institution, I have the ability to search through many research databases. I did just that, and found an article the next day that mentioned a 19-year-old male DYING after eating pancakes made with outdated mix. Apparently, the mold that forms in old pancake mix can be toxic! When we told our friends about my son's close call, we were surprised at the number of people who mentioned that they should check their own pancake mix since they don't use it often, or they had purchased it some time ago.
With so many people shopping at warehouse-type stores and buying large sizes of pancake mix, I hope your readers will take the time to check the expiration date on their boxes.
Also, beware of outdated cake, brownie and cookie mixes.
This is TRUE--Check it out!

S.T.R.o k e - Very Crucial Info. About Signs of a Stroke
I'm glad I held on to this e-mail because for those of you who aren't aware of what signs to look for of a stroke, this could very well help you prevent someone from dying should you be aware of what to do when you do see the signs.
This is Good Information!
One of our employees had a mini stroke yesterday. This is how to recognize symptoms and save a life!
STROKE: Remember The 1st Three Letters...STR...
My friend sent this to me and encouraged me to post it and spread the word. I agree. If everyone can remember something this simple, we could save some folks. Seriously.. Pease read:
STROKE IDENTIFICATION:
During a BBQ, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics) and just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes. They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food - while she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening. Ingrid's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00pm, Ingrid passed away). She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today. Some don't die. They end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead.
It only takes a minute to read this...
A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke v ictim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.
RECOGNIZING A STROKE
Thank God for the sense to remember the "3" steps, STR. Read and Learn!
Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.
Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:
Ask the individual to do these three things:
S = SMILE
T = TALK - to speak a simple sentence (Coherently) (i.e.: It is sunny out today)
R = RAISE BOTH ARMS
NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out their tongue ... if the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke
If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call 9-1-1 imediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

Beware Of This New Carjackers Scheme (No Joke)
Another Method Carjackers Are Using That You Should Be Aware Of (No Joke)
You walk across the parking lot, unlock your car and get inside. You start the engine and shift into reverse. Before backing out of your parking space, you glance into your rear view mirror when you notice a piece of paper or something stuck to the middle of the back window. So, you shift into park, unlock your doors and jump out of your car to remove that paper (or whatever it is) that is obstructing your view. When you reach the back of your car, all of a sudden the carjackers appear out of nowhere, jump into your car and take off. They practically run you over as they speed off in your car. And to all the ladies reading this, I’ll bet your purse is still in the car. So now the carjackers have your car, your home address, your money, and your keys. Your home and your whole identity are now compromised!
BEWARE of this new scheme!
If you see a piece of paper or any object stuck to your back window, just drive away, remove the object later and be thankful that you read this. Hopefully you will advise your friends and family of this, in particular women since their purse likely contains personal information and identification; surely nobody wants their loved ones identity to fall into the wrong hands.
